PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Cornerstone offers 30 day, 45 day, 60 day, 90 day, six month, up to one year residential programs for alcohol and other substance abusers. The program and facilities are licensed and certified by the California Dept. of Alcohol and Drug Programs (ADP) for residential treatment for adult men and women.

The Cornerstone's recovery centers were created in 1996, to be home-style, family environments where peer support, peer pressure, and  hard work combine to elevate self-esteem and honesty to provide the foundations upon which growth and recovery are built. The residents are guided through their lives, from childhood to the present and counseled to work through those issues that have influenced their decision to adopt a dysfunctional lifestyle.

During the initial phases in the program, residents participate in intensive group meetings, work shops and one-on-one counseling sessions, in addition to completing individual workbook assignments to uncover the the cause of their addictions.

Residents complete written assignments in the Phase Recovery Program™ Workbooks and a 12-Step workbook. These assignments assist the resident in exploring their core issues and how these have affected their lives. They are provided with the tools to create a holistic map of their emotional, physical, spiritual and cognitive self while developing a philosophy of understanding and acceptance and a craving for continued education and development.

Subsequent phases help residents to identify their goals and the resources they will need to get there. The process also focuses on learning tools that will enable them to continue in  their recovery.

Graduation from the program requires that, after completing the residential program work, the resident participate in two months of Aftercare, including remaining clean and sober and living in an acceptable, safe and sane environment.

There is a strong optional faith based component to The Cornerstone program that promotes the spiritual growth so necessary in the recovering individual.

In the nearly a decade that The Cornerstone has been in existence, over 70% of its graduates have shown that not only are they remaining clean and sober, but have moved up to positions in life far exceeding that which they could have expected even if they could have just stopped drinking and using without the benefit of the program.

Many of The Cornerstone graduates have entered into educational institutions studying for various degrees such as X-ray Technician, Business Management, Counseling, even Law. In general their grades are above average. Other graduates have entered the work force and have proven their worth by being promoted through the ranks sometimes even passing those co-workers who have been employed longer.
