Chemical Dependency Treatment Technician

SUMMARY

This is an entry level position in the field of alcohol and other substance abuse recovery. The Technician assists in coordinating and conducting the facility's functions and provides client services as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor with primary duties centering on supporting Assistant Counselors, Counselors and other staff with their regular duties, such as facility management, organizing resident activities, maintaining individual resident log books, obtaining the necessary assessment data for diagnosis and treatment, and resident charting. Upon obtaining experience with the facility's recovery philosophy and earning the trust and respect of the clients, the Technician may be expected to increase his or her functions to include those of an Assistant Counselor.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The duties of the Technician include but are not limited to:

(a) Facility Management

>    Supervise resident chores and volunteer resident workers;

>    Dialing phones for residents;

>   Facilitating resident activities;

>    Participating in the facility's maintenance and house projects and recording in
   appropriate log.

>    Monitoring medications and recording in the medications log.

(b) Intakes

>    Conducting intakes for new clients;

>    Searching personal possessions of new clients of the same sex;

>    Explaining the facility's Guidelines and Rules and Regulations;

>    Assigning a client guide to the new entrant.

(c) Client Relations

>   Problem solving that does not necessitate direct intervention
  from his or her supervisor;

>   Recording observations of clients and the facility and reporting
  to his or her supervisor;

>   Resident activities planning and scheduling, organization, and supervision;

>   Upholding the rules and regulations and reporting infractions.

(d) Other Duties

>   May be required to drive clients and/or other staff members
  to and from necessary appointments, meetings, etc.;

>   Assist in grocery and other shopping.

>   Office duties including but not limited to date entry, photocopying, filing;

>   Supervise the general running of the facility.

>   Public relations, donation solicitation, when appropriate;

                                          Recovery Systems, Inc..

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Technician must have:

>   No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of 12 months
  immediately prior to the time of employment.

>   Experience in or familiarity with the recovery process from alcohol
  and other substance abuse.

>   Not on Probation or Parole

>   Valid California Drivers License & Clean DMV Record

>   CPR and First Aid Certification (required prior to starting)
